2011 Bookings

Well, it's 2011, and so far I have only booked one wedding per summer month (and a couple of the fall months), so there are plenty of open dates...

Explanation of the name...

People always ask me, how I came up with the DJ Kornbred moniker, and it comes down this:

"cornbread fed" is defined as:
"Adjective used to describe someone, either male of female, that is thick in build. With men it means having broad shoulders and solid arms. Synonyms include thoroughbred and brick house. Origin comes from the south where most of the meals were eaten with cornbread, and as a result, the people there were generally healthily built from the good eating."

Being that I am slightly bigger guy (200+ lbs.) this description describes me perfectly.

A second reason is that I am a big fan of comedy & music, and in a song recorded by Chris Rock with Barry White; Chris goes down a list of things that he does not like or that are untrue about our modern world, but when he gets to the subject of cornbread, he says, "Cornbread...Ain't nothin' wrong with that."

And finally, I love cornbread!
Fresh out of the oven with some butter & honey...well, as far as I am concerned, it doesn't get much better than that.

Other than that I just wanted something to set me apart, that was fun and down-home, and that people would remember.

So far the only other dates I have booked for 2010 are July 10th for the Schriever/Leistiko Wedding & Reception at the Portland Convention Center & another on August 20th at the Grand Lodge in Forest Grove

Just got done doing the Hart/Nagi reception at Timberline Lodge last week to kick the season off. The reception was beautiful & fun, highlighted by hand-made real flower leis & a custom soundtrack provided by yours truly.

My name is Harris McCord aka DJ Kornbred.
I am 30 years old, and currently living in SE Portland.
I am setting this blog up as a way for potential clients to have a place to check me out and see what I am all about. I will try to update and get some pictures up here, A.S.A.P.
As you may have read in my "About Me" section I am a window glazier by day & D.J. all the rest of the time. I have been D.J.ing for the last 14 years, and it is my passion. I have played to just about every different crowd you can imagine, and left everyone more than satisfied.
